Academic integrity is a foundational expectation within the College of Dentistry and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Academic misconduct includes, but is not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, fraud, destruction, bribery or intimidation, assisting others in acts of misconduct, or attempting to engage in such behaviors. All students are responsible for understanding and adhering to the Academic Misconduct Code as outlined in the Faculty Handbook (Appendix C) https://provost.ouhsc.edu/Policies-and-Procedures/HSC-Faculty-Handbook.
In addition to academic standards, students are expected to uphold professionalism consistent with the expectations of the dental profession. Concerns related to integrity, honesty, or professional conduct may result in the filing of a Professionalism Concerns Report and referral to the Office of Student Affairs.
Alleged violations of academic integrity will be addressed in accordance with university procedures, including formal review and adjudication processes to ensure due process. Instructors retain discretion in determining academic penalties following a finding of responsibility. Consequences may include a grade penalty up to and including a zero on the assignment, failure of the course, and/or additional disciplinary actions, depending on the nature, severity, and impact of the conduct, as well as any prior history. Occurrences will be reported to the Office of Academic Affairs and may be brought to the Periodic Assessment Committees.
Students are encouraged to seek clarification from their instructor if they are unsure about appropriate academic practices.
